Become a brand storyteller

Our students ‘learn with industry’ engaging with professional practice throughout the course. in the last 3 years we have worked with global brands like Sky, Kopparberg and leading Agencies and Studios such as Bulletproof, The Electric Theatre Collective, DNCO, The Drum, Dentsu, Stormbrands, Mr Bailey @concept Kicks and Studio Blup.

This advertising and branding degree investigates how visual stories are deployed to bring products and services to life. You examine diverse areas of marketing, branding and advertising, including: how to develop brand communication, social media content, marketing strategy and interactive experience. You will also learn to create graphic design communication for contemporary media platforms.

You will construct stories that connect strategically across print, social and online channels to engage audiences and influence perception. As well as exploring cutting-edge, such as apps, digital print, online media and mobile games, you will also examine traditional communication formats, like print-based media. This degree in advertising really will provide you with a solid grounding. 

Creative advertising, social media, digital technology, communication, storytelling and brand design are all prominent branches on the all-encompassing marketing tree. They are also decisive factors in what makes many contemporary companies successful and stand out from the crowd. As such, when you graduate with a BA honours degree in Advertising and Brand Design at Ravensbourne University London, you will not just be given a robust foundation to help you move into your chosen field of expertise. XCHANGE 2023 - Design with Purpose

Advertising and Brand Design students hosted an industry event in the heart of Shoreditch. This year's graduates presented their work alongside a series of talks that explored the importance of purpose to creative practice. 

Industry speakers included: Clive Russell (This Ain’t Rock N Roll), Rosa Kimosa (Creative Conscience), Brad Sussex (Madethought), Liy Grant (Mother London), Nick Eagleton (Saboteur), Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino (Design Council) and Matthew Jones (Accept & Proceed).

Design Week mention New Blood award winners, July 2023

Advertising and Brand Design students won 2 pencils and a much-coveted White Pencil. 

From the theme of our showcase XCHANGE event to recognition from the industry international judges. 

Our pencil winners are, Reiss Milton, Pablo Durban, Emily Brisius, Ben McKay & Charlie Wall-Palmer, (who has also won a place on the very competitive (only 30 places available) D&AD New Blood Academy in partnership with WPP.(

Just to put this all into perspective, there were over 6,000 entries to D&AD New Blood this year and only 7 white pencils were awarded. 

The night was a fantastic celebration of the power of creativity to stimulate positive change.

A community of learners has always been key to learning in creative higher education. Unfortunately, even before lockdown, successfully establishing such a community had become more and more challenging. 

On the BA Hons Advertising & Brand Design at Ravensbourne, they bucked this trend and in the 2020 publication, We Are 906!  course leader Derek Yates used the Foreword to pay tribute to what the class had achieved.

Kemi Adeeko

A recent graduate from Ravensbourne University, Kemi studied Advertising and Brand Design and now classifies herself as a visual storyteller with a focus on film and design. Creating inclusive work which tells stories of diversity from around the world, Kemi’s work spans design, music and fashion. She’s collaborated with Apple and artist Shamiya Battles, exploring the narrative of an unsigned artist, and devised a digital concept to share stories of Black people in everyday positive ways.

The Kit Store provides a wide range of equipment that students can borrow to complete their projects. Staff can also borrow equipment to deliver their practical sessions. 

It houses a wide range of equipment from industry standard manufacturers, including cameras, audio, lighting, and more.

Staff at the Kit Store are trained in various relevant departments and are available to give advice on all the equipment within the store, to help you realise your project.

Materials library

The Ravensbourne materials library is curated by Material ConneXion, a business that introduces brands to the latest material innovations.

The materials scientists at Material ConneXion select innovative materials relevant to the courses at Ravensbourne and that reflect current trends in design and manufacturing.

Samples of these materials are then added to the library so students and staff can browse the physical collection for inspiration, material ideas and applications.

The library hosts 1,500 material samples and an interactive table for further research and access to the Material ConneXion database.

External visitor information

The materials library can be used by external students registered with the SCONUL access scheme.
