Our favourite things to do nearby
Ravensbourne is located at the heart of London’s newest creative community on the Greenwich Peninsula. We’re nestled beside the O2, with views stretching across the river Thames and to the twinkling lights of Canary Wharf.
Here’s just a few of our favourite things to see and do in the local area:
Bars & Nightclubs
The Indigo O2 is just a few minutes from Ravensbourne, playing host to some of the biggest club nights in London as well as gigs & comedians. The brand new Magazine London venue has opened on the peninsula, offering the biggest event space in London with a host of events yet to be announced. A number of the restaurants in the O2 also offer happy hours and 2 for 1 cocktails.
As well as the bars available nearby, we’re just a 30 minute journey away from Shoreditch via the DLR from Cutty Sark. Clubs like Queen of Hoxton, Cargo, The Cornershop and The Book club all offer a slice of legendary Shoreditch nightlife.
Keep up to date with the Ravensbourne Students’ Union to find what’s happening around the university.
Our location directly next to The O2 means that we’re just minutes away from the Icon Outlet. You can find stores such as Nike, Levi’s, Paperchase and The Body Shop, offering up to 70% off regular prices.
Alternatively a five minute tube ride to our neighbours at Canary Wharf will put you in the heart of luxury shopping. You can shop favourites like Boots, Zara and JD Sports or treat yourself to the likes of Hotel Chocolat, Space NK and Sweaty Betty. Greenwich market is the home of local businesses and one-off unique pieces. For bespoke fashion and jewellery visit the market which is open every day from 10.00am – 5.30pm.
Finally, if you’re looking forward to making your new accommodation feel like home, we’re just ten minutes away from a brand new IKEA.
Our location is a foodie paradise with amazing restaurants and street food right on our doorstep. While the peninsula houses classics like Wagamama’s, we’ve fallen for the new plant-based wizardry at by CHLOE, a gorgeous vegan eatery inside The O2. Other contenders in The O2 include Beer + Burger, serving 20 taps of craft beer and offering 25% student discount, firm-favourite Nando’s and Rodizio Rico, a Brazilian eatery serving unlimited charcoal roasted meats. Elsewhere, Greenwich Market offers up a rotating roster of 48 delicious food stalls to choose from. Da Fish Ting, Planet Pancake and Veganuti are just some of the favourites catering to every taste bud.
Those with a sweet tooth should definitely check out the Fudge Patch in Greenwich Market. It’s impossible to resist the handmade vegan fudge that’s made in the shop every day. With flavours like passion fruit mojito, Eton mess and salted caramel, make the most of their generous try before you buy policy.
From scaling the dizzying heights of the Up at the 02 experience to the new trampoline park, there’s always something to do nearby. Students can take part in crazy golf for just £7 or slip away from the peninsula for something more historic. The National Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory Greenwich and the Peter Harrison Planetarium provide a fascinating time capsule into the history and importance of Greenwich. You can take a short stroll through beautiful Greenwich park (look out for the deer) then view the iconic Cutty Sark sailing ship.
Greenwich also has a number of cinemas to choose from including Cineworld in the 02, an Odeon and Greenwich Picturehouse. We overlook London's first-ever riverside linear park, The Tide, which has already hosted festivals and markets since it was unveiled in July 2019. The elevated walkway is lined with grass and wildflowers and gives spectacular views of the Thames. The perfect spot for some much-needed meditation.
