What appealed to you about Ravensbourne and your chosen degree course ?

Major factors that contributed to me wanting to study at Ravensbourne were the ability to study in London, the digital focus of the university and its pioneering work in innovation. Ravensbourne really prides itself on being a innovation and future-led institution.

What I liked about Ravensbourne’s BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion was that I had always wanted to study fashion, but never wanted to study fashion design. Ravensbourne seemed like a perfect fit for me as I had an underlying interest in marketing and digital - without wanting to delve into traditional practices of the past. 

What were the benefits that you experienced from studying with us?

The course allowed me to gain a role in a growing industry that would help me to not only develop my skills further, but allow me to personally develop in terms of self-esteem. With access to programmes such as: the Adobe suite, I was able to develop and hone a new skill set.

I made invaluable contacts at Ravensbourne, whether that be through industry practitioners, or my peers who I still remain in contact with today. 

Tell us about any personal highlights from your time at Ravensbourne

Being shortlisted for the New Marketing Award at Graduate Fashion Week was a big one for me, as it really confirmed my understanding of industry practices. Additionally, meeting my course mate and business partner, Jasmine Macphee - we recently launched a platform for fashion students to find internships called FYI - which Jasmine had built as her FMP whilst at Ravensbourne. And of course, receiving my First Class honours degree really cemented all the hard work I had put in over three years. 

What advice would you give to prospective students?

University gives back what you put in. Work hard, network as much as you possibly can - when on placement don't think about the skills you're gaining, think about the contacts you're making and learn as much about those people as possible, go out of your way to stand out from the competition.

Tell us a little about your current employment

After graduating in June 2015, I started work at CLIO an award winning digital communications agency, then moved to Cult LDN, as a Junior Marketing Manager. From there, I went on to TwelveA.M. a new creative agency, founded by Jamal Edwards, where I currently work as a Creative Strategist. 

Our mantra is focused on making brands relevant within youth culture, and enabling them to be pioneers of cultural change and inspiring campaigns. I'm currently working alongside the Creative Director to create forward-thinking campaigns and holistic moments of experience for digitally-native audiences.
