Jade Sullivan

Biography

Since graduation, Jade has been working as Visual Merchandiser for Selfridges on the women’s accessories department. In her role she manages the floor plans for the contemporary, progressive and luxury designer accessories areas and regularly meets with buyers and the sales team to discuss visual strategies.

When Jade first visited Ravensbourne, she was drawn to its innovative style of learning. And the buildings unusual aesthetic inspired her; from its obscure circular windows to the open plan room structure.

It as was the ‘Fashion Buying and Brand Management’ course which caught her attention because of its versatile curriculum. It impressed her to discover that each module was different and that they explored many career paths in the course.

One highlight from Jade’s time at Ravensbourne was being a finalist at Graduate Fashion Week for the ‘New Fashion Media Award’. It was a great honour for her to represent Ravensbourne at the event and have her final year project recognised by industry professionals.

Jade’s advice to other students is to secure as much work experience while still at university as possible. Her own work placements allowed her to understand more clearly the career path she wished to pursue for herself. She also encourages students to take on board all the feedback that the lecturers give.

Commenting on her time at Ravensbourne she said:

"The course inspired me to really indulge in all aspects of the fashion industry to find my personal niche. Each module enabled me to strengthen my knowledge, gain new skills and spark my imagination to help determine where my career will follow onto after graduation.

"The extensive CV preparation gave us learners a snippet into the competitive market of applying for industry roles. Because of the detailed breakdown into how to perfect your personal CV, I felt prepared and confident to apply for roles within the fashion industry."
