Chelsea Boyce

Biography

With a creative mind and an aptitude for success, it's no wonder Chelsea has thrived since she graduated from the BA Fashion Buying and Brand Management course in 2018. With a strong work ethic and encouragement from her tutors, Chelsea was awarded a First in her degree.

She then went on to secure a role as Menswear Buying Admin Assistant at Urban Outfitters straight after graduation. She is now putting her creative talents to the test, working as Creative Copywriter and Graphic Designer at creative agency Sophie Co, based in Sydney, Australia.

What initially appealed to you about Ravensbourne and your chosen degree?

The wide range of areas that are covered on the course around the business of fashion. Also, the opportunity to travel on various trips to expand my knowledge and experience of the fashion industry.

Could you tell us about the benefits of studying with us?

The fact that the year groups were smaller in comparison to larger universities gave me the chance to have more time and personal support with the wonderful tutors to help with my projects.

As Ravensbourne is such a creative university, I was able to collaborate with students from different courses to compliment my own projects. During my degree, I had the chance to work with students across multiple disciplines such as Photography, Film, Architecture and Fashion Design.

I’m a very creative thinker, so I really enjoyed studying Fashion Buying and Brand Management, as it allowed me to develop my own creative style. I loved seeing the final outcome after completing my projects.

What were your highlights from your time at Ravensbourne?

Travelling to Sri Lanka to visit factories to learn about ethical and sustainable manufacturing was an incredible experience and such a fun trip.

Graduating with a First was a very proud and exciting moment for me, which took a lot of hard work and brilliant support from my tutors.

Also, making lifelong friends along the way was also a big bonus, which I’m very grateful for!

How has your degree at Ravensbourne helped you to achieve your professional goals?

My degree taught me a lot about how businesses are run and the different areas of expertise that come together to make up a successful company.

I landed my first job after university at Urban Outfitters as a Menswear Buying Admin Assistant, which was amazing.

I am now using the digital design skills I developed on my course and working at a creative agency. I'm also working on some of my own projects too.

Could you tell us a little bit about what you have done since graduating? Where are you working and what does your typical day look like?

I worked at Urban Outfitters as Buying Admin Assistant (BAA) for over a year. I now do contract-based work including Creative Copywriting and Graphic Design for Sophie Co. We are a small company made up of creatives working collaboratively across the globe.

Do you have any advice for prospective Ravensbourne students?

Work hard, dream big and collaborate! Be open to all the learning opportunities provided, as this will open the doors for so many different opportunities in industry.
