Marice Cumber named in Creative Review’s 'Creative Leaders 50'

Marice Cumber, Work Based Learning Co-ordinator at Ravensbourne has been selected by Creative Review as one of their top 50 creative leaders for this year, alongside the likes of Björk and Gal-Dem editor Liv Little.

'Creative Leaders 50' is an annual scheme by Creative Review intended to celebrate, educate and inspire those who are leading creative businesses, organisations and teams. They feature 50 individuals who Creative Review feel are leaders in their field – from advertising and design, to the arts, media, culture and tech sectors as well as those working in-house within brands and other organisations.

The recognition is made for Marice’s work setting up the charity Accumulate, delivering creative workshops to people affected by homelessness and living in hostels and temporary accommodation.

Accumulate fundraises for scholarships for its participants to attend Ravensbourne, continuing their creative education on the university's Access to Higher Education Diploma in Design and Digital Media.

Commenting, Marice said: “Creative Review emailed me out of the blue to invite me to be part of ‘Creative Leaders 50’ for 2018. I had to read the email about three times as I really couldn't believe that I was going to be part of such a prestigious list of creative people who are driving change across UK and globally.

“For me, running the Accumulate charity is the most rewarding thing I have done. It brings together the things that I am passionate about and that my whole career has been pivoted around — creativity, education and enterprise. It uses these to help people affected by homelessness to improve their lives. So getting recognised as a creative leader by Creative Review, the leading magazine in the creative sector, is seriously wonderful, humbling and very, very special!
