Greenwich Smart City Strategy launched by Digital Greenwich

The Royal Borough of Greenwich launched a 'smart city' strategy on 22 November 2015. This new strategy sets out an ambitious vision for the borough, including a modern infrastructure, a high value, high skilled economy and the 'smarter' delivery of services to residents.

Royal Greenwich has played an important role in shaping thinking in how innovation can be harnessed to improve cities, particularly in the development of national and international standards. The Council is committed to adopting such 'smart city' approaches to cope with the many challenges ahead and to create new opportunities for business and local communities.

London Higher recently commented that higher education institutions act as an anchor for local investment, and that over one third of new business start ups begin at specialist creative institutions. As a source of innovation and enterprise and being based in Greenwich, Ravensbourne has welcomed this opportunity to work with the Royal Borough, the O2 and other partners to transform the Greenwich economy and support this new vision.

James Ward, Associate Dean for FE and Community Engagement said "The Smart City project provides an exciting opportunity for the Royal Borough to create a connect approach through technology to improve the services and the lives of the Borough residents".
