RIBA SELSA AGM and lecture by award-winning practice Duggan Morris
Ravensbourne hosted the RIBA SELSA event on Wednesday 18 June 2014. Joe Morris from Duggan Morris gave an excellent lecture and review of the award-winning practice’s current work. Duggan Morris Architects is a London based practice established by Mary Duggan and Joe Morris in 2004 to design buildings which are simple to read, elegantly conceived and above all detailed with technical prowess and sophistication. The work of the practice is underpinned by a strong conviction in the creative design process, not by a desire to specialise in any single sector.
Ravensbourne Architecture Shows
New Designers 2014 was held between 2 - 6 July at the Business Design Centre. It is an exhibition for emerging design, which for the past 29 years has launched over 100,000 New Designers into the professional world. Many of the talented exhibiting designers have gone on to become leaders in their fields and recognised as design ‘stars’, which has in turn contributed to the excellent reputation of the UK’s creative industries and its creative economy.
Free Range, Europe’s largest student design show, ran between 10 - 14 July. The project provides new creative graduates with the opportunity to showcase their work on an international level. Since it started in 2001, Free Range has become the number one platform for the next generation of creative minds to showcase their work to both the public and industry. The annual Free Range exhibitions present the work of thousands of art, and design students in categories including fashion, art, graphics, photography and interior design.
Students have also been involved with facilitating the selection process for the World Architecture Festival, which will be held in Singapore between 1 - 3 October 2014. Students will run the event in Singapore, with over 2000 architects attending from around the world.
There is yet more to come from our Architecture students in the upcoming months, so look out for future updates.
