A young Shepperton woman, who is studying BA (Hons) Fashion at Ravensbourne, will now see her woolly design in shops after winning a competition by the Hobbs clothing chain.
Jessica Gowans is a fashion graduate of manor Farm Avenue. She drew her inspiration from the colour of distinctive dapple grey horses. Jessica said: “It is exciting to see something I have created on paper go into stores.”
The jumper will appear in stores on the 14 October. She says “My friends and family can’t wait to go out and buy one.” Jessica is looking to work in the textiles and print industry and is hoping this competition will open a few doors for her.
Jessica was one of the thirty students at Ravensbourne in Greenwich to enter the Wool school design project with the campaign for Wool partnering retailers with universities across the country.
The students were giving a brief to create a wolly product to be sold in shops from Wool Week up until Christmas. This year’s theme was knitwear traditions of the British Isles.
