Ravensbourne has been ranked as one of the top 100 European design schools by well-established Italian magazine, Domus. Ravensbourne's undergraduate Design Interactions and postgraduate Interactive Product Futures courses were published in the supplement of the December issue.
Michelle Douglas, Subject Leader for these courses and noted as one of the ‘Prominent Professors’, is thrilled at this accolade, “To make this list, and be chosen against such high calibre institutions and courses, is of utmost importance to the department of Product and Interaction at Ravensbourne.”
Founded in 1928, Domus magazine claims itself as 'the authoritative voice in international architecture, design, and art today'. The Domus' list examines European institutions on the basis of their "curricular focus, pedagogical identity, and the type of educational environment that is
fostered", as well as "collaborative networks, strong professors and exceptional student work". The selection is based on interviews with students, school representatives, as well as the institutions website.
Listed in the Interaction Design category, Domus describes Ravensbourne as a ‘unique university devoted to design and digital media’. It goes on to highlight the institution’s strength lying in strong ties with industry and the breadth of the topics available.
The educational approach is described as ‘well-rounded’ and strong focus is given to the students being able to work on real-life projects and drawing knowledge from the wealth of business collaborations available. According to the publication this course has ‘Strong conceptual and critical thinking.’
