Ravensbourne showcase outfits inspired by space flight in a collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA).
Ravensbourne is the only UK institution to have been selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) to work on ‘Couture in Orbit’, a project challenging students to create outfits inspired by space flight.
From embedded sensors to heating units and super-absorbent textiles, come and see the future of fashion in designs that are desirable and practical, in their national cultures.
Come and view the space fashion show at the Science Museum, meet the students and technology sponsors and explore how wearable technology and intelligent fabrics are used in current space missions. Space-certified textiles were provided for the students by the ESA, supported by companies Bionic Yarn and Sympatex.
The project marks five ESA missions to the International Space Station between 2014 and 2016, with leading fashion institutes taking part from each astronaut’s home country, London, Paris, Milan, Copenhagen and Berlin.
