Putting the heart back into the voluntary sector
Using innovation to create a voluntary sector for greater social value and well-being
This half-day Vital Ideas symposium will bring together design, innovation and voluntary sector specialists. It will look at new approaches to social innovation where openness and connectivity, the sharing of knowledge and resources within and amongst voluntary organisations and key stakeholders can lead to innovation from the ‘outside in’ – allowing the sector to gain new perspectives, bring in new voices and test new approaches.
The symposium will explore areas such as community organising, health, education and local economic development. How can these areas be viewed through the lens of new communications and digital technologies? How can the new creative technologies allow users and beneficiaries to co-create voluntary action and re-orientate the culture of their organisations?
In exploring these questions, the symposium will look at digital technology as a catalyst for voluntary sector innovation. Crucially, it will ask what this means for a more inter-connected sector, the way the sector can think more holistically about the future and how, ultimately, it can generate greater social value.
